Since August 2023, founder and Mad Violet, J!nx has been facilitating rehabilitative programming at Ironwood State Prison in support of The California Model, the goal of which is, "Building safer communities through rehabilitation, education, restorative justice, and reentry.
The Howler Project's Way of Stains is a literature-focused, trauma-informed personal development and rehabilitation program. It provides opportunities for incarcerated people to develop essential life skills, engage in meaningful experiences, and prepare to impact their local community positively. The Way of Stains promotes personal growth, social responsibility, and civic engagement among the formerly incarcerated while fostering hope and purpose.
To empower incarcerated individuals through personal growth, leadership, and emotional intelligence via a transformative personal development program. This experiential literature-focused program enables participants to use their lived experiences to mentor and support their peers. As the saying goes, "hurt people, hurt people". Through finding meaning in our suffering, we aim to cultivate a strong sense of community, promote personal development, encourage community service, and nurture leadership.
By intentionally creating opportunities for genuine connection, providing a sense of purpose, and fostering personal responsibility, we can inspire incarcerated individuals to "Break the Chains" holding them back and learn what it means to "Live for More".
We harness the transformative power of story to help incarcerated people transition back into society as emotionally intelligent, curious, and collaborative community members who can develop their potential, make a positive impact, and thrive.
Your support and contributions enable us to extend our reach and impact.
