The Mad Violet has been tasked by The Goblin himself to recruit Terran Howlers to lead and conduct Militant Acts of Kindness. He designed a one-of-a-kind immersive storytelling adventure. Initiation is an experience that allows people to write their own stories of inner strength and learn what it means to "live for more."
Initiation is a multi-day team-based endurance event designed to immerse Initiates in the story world of Red Rising by honoring the heritage of the Howlers. Proctors guide and assess Initiates to ensure they possess the necessary traits to earn their Cloaks and become part of The Pack.
In our lives, we cast ourselves as The Hero. Initiation is an event designed to allow you to cross the threshold into the story world of Red Rising as the Hero of your own story. Throughout this journey, you will meet mentors and allies, overcome challenges and face enemies before coming away with a renewed sense of what it means to "live for more."

What to expect
Tests and trials push us outside our comfort zones and provide opportunities for personal growth and the forging of lasting bonds. Initiation is our flagstone event, the foundation of what we do. It is meant to be a rite of passage that takes Red Rising fans through an immersive team-based experience. Initiation honors the formation of The Howlers by taking Initiates to the primitive world of the Institute where The Howlers were born. You will arrive as strangers excited to bring the world of Red Rising to life and prepared for the challenge to "live for more."
Upon arrival, you are issued all gear necessary for the event. You will change and secure all personal items. You will be given primary tasks appropriate for your Color. A general fitness test will be administered, and scores will be recorded. Initiates will be invited to a mandatory Squad Dinner, where they will be formally introduced to the staff, given a safety brief, and officially welcomed to the event. The squad will have a few hours to socialize before lights out at 2200.
Early the next morning, the squad will perform a warm-up followed by a teamwork assessment. Initiates will then be brought to the Bleeding Place and given basic combatives instructions before an evaluation. There will be a fun-filled day of Wanking off in the Bushes. Initiates will be instructed and assessed in basic survival skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and tactical abilities. The event concludes with a final assessment and ceremony.
By taking our oath, we will become more than family. You will become a member of The Pack.

Wolfcloaks

All finishers of Initiation will receive a custom wolfcloak hand-made by The Mad Violet himself.
These wolfcloaks are made of 3" shag faux fur and lined with 500d Cordura for durability. They feature a life-size 3D-printed wolf skull replica and a hidden pocket. They are the perfect place to display all your favorite RR pins and patches.

Initiation 001 took place in Austin, TX, in October 2021. We had the pleasure to host 7 Initiates. Bluebird, Falcon, Burner, Peepo, Hops, Bearkid, and Puck survived the Rude Awakening, battled in the Bleeding Place, and spent a day Wanking Off in The Bushes. They were tested during The Long Night and proved they were willing to share the burdens of their brothers and sisters.
The Iron 7
Initiation 001 was full of sweat and shenanigans. There were tears, smiles, and memories made. After proving they understood Howler Rule #1, the squad was purged of their former oaths and presented with their Wolfcloaks.

It all started with a tweet
In 2019, I tweeted Pierce Brown to ask for his endorsement on a project I was dreaming about. Since receiving his answer, I have been working to bring Initiation into the real world.
The Howler Project blossomed from that work.
My promise to Initiates is this; you will have the most authentic Howler Initiation experience on Terra. You will become members of a fantastic Pack and leave feeling ready to "live for more."
